Invitation to the conference Towards the Green Transition: Investment and Prices

09/05/2022 / Press release

Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to the world, and thereby the global economy. To overcome these challenges, it is paramount for economies to become greener and more resilient. The green transition is therefore not only necessary, but unavoidable, with clear implications for economic policy making. However, many issues remain unresolved. Some enterprises see climate transition as an opportunity, others as a major threat, particularly in the context of investment dynamics. The impact of the green transition on prices remains an open question, alongside the risks and opportunities it will bring for both the global and Slovenian economies.

Banka Slovenije and the European Investment Bank are together organising a half-day conference, “Towards the Green Transition: Investment and Prices”. The conference will be held on Thursday, 29 September, between 10 am and 12 pm, at the Banka Slovenije premises, and a video stream will be available via YouTube. The conference will try to address a number of outstanding issues regarding the green transition, focusing on its impacts on investment dynamics and prices.

The event will be opened by Mr. Boštjan Vasle, Governor of Banka Slovenije, and Mr. Ricardo Mourinho Félix, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank.

The keynote speaker, Professor Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, will present the latest developments regarding climate change and its broader impacts on the economy, while Debora Revoltella, Chief Economist of the EIB, will present the latest EIB Investment Survey for Slovenia, focusing on climate change. The heart of the event will be a panel involving Tina Žumer, Vice Governor, Banka Slovenije; Damjan Kozamernik, Executive Director, SID banka; and Maureen Schuller, Head of Financials Sector Strategy, ING. Simon Savšek, EIB, will moderate the panel.

The conference will be held in English and is free of charge. The translation in Slovene will be available only to those present in person. The Programme is avaliable on this link, live stream will be available via YouTube
