Identification code and BIC

The national identification code is intended for the identification of a IBAN provider (entities offering IBAN are defined in the Decision on the content and application of the Slovenian international bank account number structure, in Slovene only), and is used for the derivation of the BIC of the  beneficiary's payment based on the international bank account number (IBAN).

The Business Identifier Code (BIC, also known as the SWIFT code) is a code that can be obtained from SWIFT by institutions executing financial transactions. The code is used for the automatic identification and routing of financial transactions, and provides a unique identification for financial and non-financial institutions.

List of BICs and two- or five digit* (national) identification codes of Slovenian IBAN providers

* Bank of Slovenia in accordance with the Decision on the content and application of the Slovenian international bank account number structure can assign a five digit national identification code to the following Slovenian IBAN providers: (i) payment institutions, (ii) payment institutions with a waiver, (iii) electronic money institutions and (iv) electronic money institutions with a waiver. To the remainig Slovenian IBAN providers Bank of Slovenia can assign only a two digit identification code while the following three digit identification code is assigned by itself.
