Press release on the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund
Marko Kranjec, the Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, will attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington from 11 to 13 October 2008. Among the main subjects to be discussed by the IMF’s Monetary and Financial Committee, in which Governor Kranjec will participate, will be the current developments in the world economy, which will take place in the light of the recent shocks in financial markets. During its meeting, the IMF's Monetary and Financial Committee will also discuss further reforms and the operational guidelines of the IMF, as well as the growing role of the Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWF), including the presentation of "Generally Accepted Principles and Practices for SWF".
Governor Kranjec will also hold talks in Washington with Antonio Spilimbergo, the new Director of Slovenia's mission, as part of Article IV consultations, with Willy Kiekens, the Executive Director of the IMF's Belgian constituency, and with other representatives of international financial and banking institutions.
