Press release on the spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington
Marko Kranjec, the Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, and Božo Jašovič, a member of the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia, will attend the spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington on 12 and 13 April 2008. Among the main topics to be discussed by the IMF's Monetary and Financial Committee, which will be attended by Mr Kranjec as Slovenia's IMF Governor, will be a review of developments in the global economy and international financial markets. Discussions will also take place on the reform and operational guidelines of the IMF, including a proposal regarding the new allocation of quotas, a new model for ensuring sustained financing and strategic objectives of the medium-term budget.
During the meeting, Governor Kranjec will also hold several bilateral talks: with Michael Deppler, the Director of the European Department at the IMF, with Willy Kiekens, Executive Director of the IMF’s Belgian constituency, and with the Director of Slovenia's mission, Piritto Sorsa.
